G324 - Analysis of Magazine Advertisement by your chosen artist

This is a poster that In Blue Skies have for sale for their first EP Don't Try Me Twice, this could also be used as an advertisement in a magazine. This is because it includes the band's name, web address, EP name, Facebook and Twitter accounts, a photograph of the entire band and information about when the EP is out.

The colour scheme all works together as they use very cool colours and slightly continuing with the theme of blue. However, there is not much of a connection between the poster/advertisement and the EP itself, which could be improved upon. The only similarities between the two is that the entire band and the band name feature on both the poster/advertisement and the cover of the EP.

This is the photograph and font used on the cover of the Don't Try Me Twice EP

On the other hand, what we can take from their poster/magazine advertisement is that they make the information large enough so that it can be read/catch the viewers eye as they look at it but it does not take over the entire poster to just be a page of text. They kept it quite simple, which is what we have tried to do in our own designs for our magazine advertisement. One of the main elements I like about the poster/advertisement is that the font they used was simple and easily readable (much like it was on the Don't Try Me Twice EP cover), this is something we wanted to emulate on our own advertisement to continue the simplistic style. All though I like the font they used, I think they should've only used one font throughout the entire poster and possibly on the EP cover as well to keep a continuous style and maintaining that simplicity.

If they had used a brighter colour scheme on the poster/magazine (compared to the cool/muted colours they used) it would, not only link better with the EP,  but also demonstrate the sort of music the audience will be listening to. This is because the bright colours give connotations of happiness and the general opinion of their music is that it is happy and uplifting.
