G324 - 2 x Magazine Advertisement Analysis

This is an advertisement for Beyonce's tour "I am ... yours". The simplicity of the design could be a possible link to Beyonce's voice as she is often describes as being a naturally talented artist as she has been performing for many years and her voice has continuously improved and amazed audiences. "Beyonce" is written in a very large font and the photograph of Beyonce takes up almost half of the page, this is eye catching to anybody who sees it, as they will immediately know who the advertisement is for. The outfit that Beyonce is wearing suggests a specific type of genre/time period (it looks a lot like how Marilyn Monroe dressed when she sang for the president).

This is Pendulum's magazine advertisement promoting their new album "Immersion". This advertisement will make the album cover immediately recognisable as they've included the album cover within the poster. The advertisement announces the date and title of the album in much larger fonts to make them the most prominent feature of the advert and then the less important information is in a smaller font at the bottom of the page (these are various deals and special edition offers that have been included on the magazine advertisement).

Keeping the style of the CD cover flowing through to the publicity of the album will make all of their products recognisable and give them their own style/motif that audiences will look for.

From looking at these Magazine advertisements myself and my group can take elements of these and include them on our own work. For example the common conventions which are seen (Same font used on all products, album cover featured, band websites e.t.c) can then be applied to our own work, allowing us to make smoother connections between the digipak, magazine advertisement and the music video itself.
