By analysing already existing digipaks I will be able to find conventions and elements that are always included within this promotional item. This will then help me when creating my own Digipak as I will be able to discover which elements of the video I should create/include on the Digipak to make them a pair. This will also help when creating the magazine advertisement as this and the Digipak will need a strong connection to compare with real media texts.
Colour/Design: The colouring for this Katy Perry album Teenage Dream Followed the theme of bright and light colours. This colour scheme give the audience an idea of the style of music they will be listening to as Katy Perry considers herself a light hearted parody of pop who is enjoyable to listen to. It also fits with the style of sweets and sweet foods that Katy Perry went with for this album and specific videos (For example California Gurls). This link with the video is demonstrated not only in the colours, but also the design and photographs displayed on each of the sides and the CDs. One of the CDs looks like how we would expect a strawberries and cream sweet to look and the other looks like a Donut. The photographs of Katy Perry on the left and right sides of the digipak are linked to the California Gurls music video again as the candy floss she is on features heavily throughout the video.

Packaging: The CDs slip into the sides of the digipak (it does not have plastic disc holders) this makes the packaging cheaper and also creates more surfaces on the digipak to include pictures or information. At the top of the picture is a booklet that comes included within the digipak. This will include things such as images of the star and information about the album, lyrics to songs and information about the artist herself.
Colour/Design: Rihanna is well know has being very sexual in her videos and through her music. However the cover/design of this album is not very sexual in the photographs used, this could suggest a change in style from Rihanna within this album, the use of the red flowers and the red in Rihanna's hair gives romantic connotations to the digipak design. On the other hand, this use of red could give sexual and dangerous connotations. The simple design on the cover of the album (one close-up picture of Rihanna and a very simple font) again hints at the implication that this album is more stripped back in comparison to others. For example the cover of her album Unapologetic:
Unapologetic - Album Cover
The Loud digipak design links with Rihanna's music video for one of the songs featuring on the album called Only Girl (In The World). The flowers and look that is displayed on the digipak appear within this video.

One long picture of Rihanna laying in the bed of flowers gives the digipak a continuous flow/style throughout each of the sides.
Packaging: The CDs are not held onto the digipak by plastic disc holders which again makes the packaging cheaper and also creates more surfaces on the digipak to include pictures or information. It can be seen through the small holes in the packaging that the discs kept inside match the dress that Rihanna is wearing in the photograph displayed across the digipak, again giving the complete digipak a continuous style.
